Project 52:9 P is for...Productive

You may have noticed I missed last week's Project 52. Whoops. But I have an excuse! Two excuses, in fact.

First, last Thursday I came down with a sudden case of mastitis. If you aren't familiar with this, it's basically boob flu. It came on within a few hours and Josh dragged my woozy butt to the ER where they put me on antibiotics and 48 hours of bedrest. Of course actual bedrest wasn't all that feasible but we muddled through, and in a couple days I felt pretty much back to normal.

At the same time as all that was going on I started the testing process for a job working from home. I didn't want to say anything because it wasn't a sure thing but yesterday I was told that I'm officially hired!

I'm pretty excited to once again be making my own money. But I'm nervous about what it will mean for my mothering and household responsibilities. I've gotten pretty good at including Baby Peyton in my day to day chores so I'm not leaving her to her own devices while I clean the house. But what about the 10-20 hours I'll be working for the next year?

Well, the job is all online, so I'm hoping to maximize the 3-5 hours I'm holding Baby P for her naps a day by working. I think if I work the whole nap for one of her naps a day and then again at bedtime when I rock her for a couple more hours, then I'll be able to work without taking away from my time with Peyton. And the dishes will still get done.

How about you? What do you do to stay on top of all your responsibilities without feeling overwhelmed? Are you a perfectionist who tries to do everything, like me, or are you able to adapt and go with the flow?

P.S. The company I'm working for is called Lionbridge. I made sure it wasn't some kind of scam before submitting my application because I know it sounds a bit too good to be true. But it is a legitimate job. So stop worrying, Mom!

Yay for getting hired! If you figure out a great way to be productive enough to get in the full 20 hours every week, PLEASE share your secrets because I just can't figure out how to do it and, you know, sleep.

Yay for you! I know how you have been wanting to do SOMETHING to add to finances, and I think this is a good fit for you! Even once Peyton naps without you holding her, she will still nap so hat time is a good plan. You worked all through college, and survived, so I imagine you will do fine! ANd the pic of Peyton in the sink "helping" do dishes is adorable and she probably loved it!!!
